World Commemoration Day for Road Traffic Victims
Sunday at 10, we gathered as set out at the “ Universitate” area , on the steps of TNB. Came Mr. and Mrs. Galavan (initiators of action), a representative of Brigade Road, Alina, Simona, Alexandra, Iuliana, Cristi and me.
I know Mr and Ms galavan about three years, Mr Galavan learned about the tragedy that my family has when, in the winter of 2005 over the holidays, an accident had taken us away from my sister Eliza and her daughter, Gabriela. He is charge of the project named “Tear Road”, founded after in 1997; his wife remained invalid due to an accident.
Mr Galavan doesn’t speak English, but he can handle simple operations at the computer (with the internet access it is harder). And more difficult – the process by which the driver has proven guilt of the corrupt nature and technical expertise has been gained with the price of his own roof. Despite these shortcomings, husbands Galavan prepare all kinds of materials; they are in contact with organizations from the world and won the appreciation of personalities and the Civil Society Gala for their involvement. They have organized the action on Sunday, made a partnership with Radio Romania Actualities and Police Brigade Road, brought banners, flowers and candles.
I will present to you Alina, Simona and Alexandra participants at the activity. They came together, were colleagues before… There are some cheerful girls, fresh graduates from college. Close friends, in fun times and also harsh times. While I just made my courage to share flyers to pedestrians, they have shared with enthusiasm (many) drivers stick to the red color of the TRAFFIC LIGHTS
Iuliana Cristi and were the nicest surprise from Sunday. Why?
Because,Sunday morning, on a very cold weather, instead of shriveling lazy in the blanket, they came to “Universitate” to support a cause. They did all that despite that fact that they did not lose anyone in any accident and all the commemoration of World Day of Victims of Road Accidents is a sad occasion for a weekend day. And yet, Iuliana and Cristi came to “ University”, they smiled and offered passers-flyers for awareness about crossing regulations.
Also the representative of Police Brigade Road, Florin, shared flyers. With the motorcycle nearly with his helmet on his head and gloves in hand, he looked like Robocop. The people were somehow avoiding him – perhaps for fear of any fines. But the enthusiasm and perseverance, has been successful and the flyers were taken away.
I shared flyers as well, I trembled from the cold and I discussed with those who showed interest in the cause (and I discovered that not a few). I confess that I stopped addressing a banner with pictures of the places of accidents. Although leading to accidents and tragedies are affecting negatively both the directly affected, and their families, I think that we can support this cause in a positive and constructive way.
In two hours, they shared a large stack of flyers to pedestrians and one with stickers containing messages for drivers. And I gave also the last flyer, which I intented to keep for showing it to you. The text sounds like this: “cross the street regularly. Do not throw your life in the street!”Funny, though outside it was very cold in my chest was warm
I want to thank the spouses Galavan for involving us and also to Iulian, Cristi, Alina, Simona and Alexandra for the energy and enthusiasm they have brought on Sundays, and all those who promoted this action, here we would mention especially on Loredana and Vera (who will not use her car to kill).
See you soon, serving the same cause!

God bless!
